Project Sila: An Arctic CNG Pilot Test Program

The objective of the project is to deploy and demonstrate compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty vehicles and infrastructure capable of greater than or equal to 25% reduction in tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions, greater than or equal to 10% reduction in mean time between failures (MTBFs), greater than or equal to 50% reduction in fuel costs, and less than or equal to 20% reduction in range when compared to a current fleet of diesel vehicles to facilitate the growth and expansion of CNG as a transportation fuel in Alaska’s industrial North Slope.
